- Neuralgia, Trigeminal (Tic douloureux)
- SYMPTOMS. There will be intense facial pain along the fifth cranial nerve
- (called trigeminal) that leads from the brain to the face and jaw. The pain
- is usually brief and may extend from the forehead to the nose, lips, tongue
- and the gums. At first the occurrences is at intervals of weeks or months and
- they later increase in frequency.
- CAUSES are unknown at this time. It mainly affects older persons.
- TREATMENT. Medication may be prescribed. Cold or heat may give some relief.
